CRYSTAL GALLERY

Pretty Firewater
Retardation colors are a sort of diffraction phenomenon
that occurs with anisotropic substances observed with polarized light and polarizing filters.
Two kinds of crystals are seen here against an aqua background. Different
diffraction shifts produce different backgrounds and alterations of the rainbow
colors shown by the crystals. A specific shift can be introduced with a
specially designed transparent retardation "plate". Some retardation colors are
not "spectral" because the birefringence change with wavelength goes through a
minimum or a maximum in the visible wavelength range, it may even change sign.
That is, the refractive indices' change with wavelength may even cross one
another.
God made living things so that their activities would
dynamically
"crystallize" and their evolutionary survival would be enhanced. He puts us
under His microscope and shines the light of His grace upon us. Spirit loves our
multihued display as the retardation plate of His Mercy shifts away blame and
shows us His forgiveness by means of His Love. Son creates our crystals as
Father guides us toward best conditions that can render us as most Responsible for our
own healthy crystalline and more orderly state. God steers us toward perfection,
toward a balance of minimal dynamic entropy. We are a self organizing
dissipative system acting according to the most subtle rules that we cannot
fully comprehend with our feeble languages and machines.

How many colors are needed to fill in these crystalline Balkan countries hardened from the melt between a glass slide and thin cover slip? Contrasting colors do not have to be part of the usual spectrum produced by a prism from white light. These individual crystals have intrinsic color that is augmented by the retardation colors visible under polarized light with crossed polars. With leaves of green on black velvet, purple fruit is highlighted with a pattern of rectangular masks that arose naturally from the composition process. A rainbow blast rips through multicolored bricks as the world explodes. Alladin's enchanted carpet was patterned so exquisitely that it could not be copied. A little furry lumpen between two great quivering masses of sharpest quills. I think that these crystals growing from the melt are called spherulites, but I wonder why.

We know that this order system is a bit clunky and
inconvenient,
but, we shall install an advanced shopping cart system
as soon as sales volume allows.
Go to
any exemplar page and use the form there to specify a picture, its size, whether
it is to be framed and/or matted and note its price according to the guidelines given
there. Remember the picture's title or its number in either type of slideshow gallery
sequence (this site's own or FothoThing). Uh oh. you might have to be able to count.
Also give a brief
description of the picture if you can, just to make sure, using the feedback
page. Sorry this cumbersome procedure will be changed. Then use your credit
card with PayPal.
Be sure to use the same name on this
site's forms as you will use with
PayPal. We shall install a shopping cart ASAP.
For a limited time only, you may
select a second picture of the same size, et cetera, for no additional charge
except for a slightly increased shipping fee. We make no profit on shipping.
The slideshow galleries include
FotoThing and an in-house slideshow for each of four categories as seen on the
exemplar pages under the Products or Premiums links. There are, perhaps, a dozen dozen
pictures on this site.
But you can ask for hundreds more in each of over a
eight
more categories. LoneTree can mail or email pages and pages of contact prints,
which are like thumbnail pictures, in about any nature, landscape or wildlife
category you can think of including Cityscapes, Architecture, Old houses &
Barns, Antennae/Grain Elevators/Power Towers & Substations, and
Planes/Trains/Automobiles as these are "works of Man" as a part of Nature.
LoneTree's prints are always in limited editions (25 or
less) regardless of format (size and other parameters). They are always signed
by me (or any other artist that we may sponsor) and dated with the edition limit
stated in order to make this a true investment for you. LoneTree's Pictures will
increase in value by 300% in less than 5 years.

Impossibly Pretty Crystals
They are impossible to grow this way because the
spherulitic fan shaped structures were grown from the melt, so it is a "fusion"
prep and the little oblongs were grown separately by evaporation from solution.
Now, this is a sort of digital double exposure which I call a synthetic aperture
or
composite image.
